As Trudy Levy, Principal and founder of Image Integration, I wrote in InformationWeek, in November, 1996, a digitization project includes the " basic processes -- creation, storage, management -- interlocking pieces each of whose configuration impacts the requirements of the others." For a successful sustainable project you need to plan each piece: its goals, mission, standards and procedures.
Image Integration, the digital imaging guide, takes each client through this planning process to:
- establish image and file standards which will grow with a seacheable collection
- create step by step procedures for a smooth and error free work flow
- select the best software system
- train staff in the software programs to reach the plan's goal.
In addition to guiding it clients, Image integration also provides this site, DIG-mar.com with information about all aspects of the digitization process. The site is a gift to the community. DIG- Mar.com's History
DIG-mar.com was launched in 1999. It was originally designed to serve the three communities working with digital image collections: the creators, managers and publishers. I now feel that those involved with a collection should see the whole picture and have brought everyone together. You will still see this old division in the classification of the resources.
The site is organized in three main sections: Support, Commentary and Image Integration information.
